The Water Transparency Portal

Mexico City faces significant challenges in managing its drinking water supply, including interruptions, inconsistent quality, and a lack of accessible information. The Water Transparency Portal (WTP) addresses these issues by offering real-time data through 500 smart sensors, an AI platform, and a mobile app. This initiative, funded by The Water Transparency Foundation, aims to enhance transparency, resource management, policymaking, education, and public trust.

The project emphasizes local technology development and has garnered support from various universities and organizations

This map is a representation of the WT portal, the information and graphics are for display only and do not present accurate information.

The portal

  • Innovative Technology: Deploying 500 smart sensors across Mexico City to monitor water quality and supply.

  • Real-Time Data Access: Providing immediate, user-friendly information through an interactive mobile application.

  • Community Engagement: Aiming to raise water awareness among over 10,000 residents.

  • Mobile app and Friendly Visuals: Presenting data in clear, graphical formats similar to Google Maps.

Join us in transforming water management and fostering a sustainable future for Mexico City.

The tools

Software:

  • Data Collection and Management System (DCMS): Collects, organizes, and analyzes water data.

  • Data Publication System (DPS): Manages user access, visualizes data, and facilitates interaction.

Hardware Deployment:

  • Including pressure, flow and quality sensors

Currently, these technologies are under development.  Collaborating with university teams, we aim to innovate and establish a startup dedicated to this new approach.
